We, Sameer Sharma and Sanghmitra Bhargav, are so excited to welcome you all to this year’s Heritage AIPPM! Getting to be your Executive Board for this committee is something we’re genuinely looking forward to.

AIPPM isn’t an easy committee. It asks you to really understand the political landscape, know your constitutional provisions, and be able to hold your ground while still finding common ground with people who see things very differently. We can’t wait to watch that play out on the floor.

This year’s agenda is the Uniform Civil Code, and honestly, it’s hard to think of a topic more relevant right now. The UCC touches on some of the most personal and most political questions a country can ask: how religion and law intersect, what gender justice actually looks like in practice, how far the state should go in the name of uniformity, and whether “one nation, one law” is unity or overreach.

There’s no easy side to be on here, which is exactly what makes it worth debating properly. We’re hoping for arguments that go beyond talking points, with real research, real nuance, and an honest attempt to understand why people disagree on this.

For us, a good committee isn’t just about who speaks the most. It’s built on respect for each other, debate that actually goes somewhere, and everyone showing up ready to participate. We can’t wait to meet you all and get started. Jai Hind!
